Tattoo Removal Q & A

What Is Tattoo Removal?

Tattoo removal is a process that helps to remove unwanted tattoos from your skin. It works by breaking up the pigments underneath the skin through heat so that they will eventually fade.

There are many reasons a person might seek tattoo removal. They might want to become more employable, get rid of an embarrassing name or image, or even just remove a distorted or faded tattoo.

What Kinds of Tattoos Can Be Removed?

Any kind of tattoo can be removed. However, there are many different factors that determine how easy it is to remove a tattoo. These can include ink color, tattoo age, tattoo size, location, skin color, amount of ink, tissue damage, or amount of layers. For example, tattoos that are primarily blue, green, or black ink are much easier to remove than orange, red, white, or yellow ink.

Tattoos are also more difficult to remove if you are a smoker.

How Does the Tri-Lase Laser Work?

Tri-Lase laser is a brand new, cutting-edge technology that simplifies the process of tattoo removal. It uses a special frequency of light-based wavelengths that can tune in more easily on tattoo ink. This makes the entire process safer and more effective. Compared to traditional lasers, more pigments are destroyed while less skin tissue is damaged, improving results.

During the procedure, you will wear special goggles to protect your eyes while Dr. Cagnes runs the laser over your skin. You might feel slight irritation that is similar to the pain you had when getting the tattoo. However, we do use a topical numbing cream to make the process as comfortable as possible.

How Many Tattoo Removal Treatments Will I Need?

How many treatments you need depends on several factors. However, most patients do require at least a few sessions to completely remove their ink. Dr. Cagnes will be able to provide a better timeline after your initial consultation.
