What is PRP?

Dr. Cagnes announces a new anti-aging treatment of the skin.

Dr. Cagnes is proud to introduce a new, regenerative treatment to improve skin laxity, build collagen, and brighten the complexion.

The treatment is based on the infusion of a patient’s skin with a “Platelet rich plasma” solution which is produced by separating the red blood cells from the plasma component of the blood.

PRP therapy helps to reverse the effects of the aging process and to address problems like sagging of the skin, sun damage and volume loss.

The plasma obtained from a patient has up to an 80% concentration of platelets.

The serum is injected into the skin, producing three different effects.

The first and most important is to attract the flow of “stem cells” to the area that has been treated.

Once the stem cells reach the skin, they will convert into “fibroblasts” which are the cells responsible for the production of collagen. Collagen has the effect of firming the skin while improving its texture.

The second effect is the ability to stimulate the production of new blood vessels which will in turn increase blood supply to the area.

Stimulating the blood supply will cause an increased flow of nutrients and oxygen to the area, enhancing the energetic level and boosting the production of new cells while removing toxins.

The third important effect of the PRP therapy is to add more volume.

More volume can be added to restore areas of the face that have been depleted by the aging process while softening the appearance of the wrinkles.

The procedure is mildly invasive because the plasma has to be injected with special blunt needles under the skin while minimizing local discomfort as well as bruising problems.

The procedure takes about one hour and does not require any anesthesia.

Common side effects are: mild discomfort, occasional bruising, swelling and transitory redness of the area that has been treated. These side effects are usually very short lived.

An immediate effect is a beautiful turgor and volume enhancing effect with softening of deep lines and wrinkles.

It takes about eight weeks for the process of skin rejuvenation to be completed.

The PRP facial is a holistic way to stimulate the patient’s own natural process of regenerating the skin, promoting collagen production and restoring volume loss while helping to achieve a natural and more youthful appearance.

PRP can also be injected into the scalp with the effect of promoting hair growth by increasing the blood supply and rejuvenating the hair follicles.

New hair growth can be stimulated in a matter of a few months.

The new hair will look shinier, healthier and stronger.

When “PRP” is injected into the vaginal tissue, it can have a local rejuvenating effect while enhancing sexual response.

PRP has also been shown to improve the symptoms of a “leaky bladder”.
